Tuolumne River Canyon Trail

Overview: This is a moderate, 6.0 mile trail that meanders along the south side of the Tuolumne River in the Stanislaus National Forest. Located within the 2013 Rim Fire burn area, this trail provides a unique opportunity to hike in a post-fire landscape and experience the wild and scenic Tuolumne River up-close. This trail extends to the confluence with the Clavey River and can have impressive wildflower blooms in the springtime.

Notes: Hikers should take care to avoid standing near dead trees and loose rocks, especially during strong wind or rain events. This trail can be combined with the Hamby Trail, however it’s recommended to shuttle cars between the two trailheads due to the distance and elevation change between them.

Season: All year (spring for wildflowers)
