Earth Month in Action: Join Us Across the Watershed This April
April is Earth Month—a time to celebrate the places we love and take meaningful action to protect them.
From planting trees in fire-scarred forests to restoring creek habitats, gathering in community, and honoring Indigenous stewardship traditions, this month is full of opportunities to get outside, give back, and connect.
At Yosemite Rivers Alliance, we believe change happens when people come together—on the land, in community, and in shared purpose. Here’s how you can be part of it.
Restore Forests: April Tree Planting Volunteer Days
April 11 & 12 | Rim Fire Footprint, Tuolumne County
Step into the forest and be part of something bigger.
Across the Rim Fire footprint, thousands of young trees are ready to take root—and we need your help to plant them. These volunteer days are a chance to restore landscapes impacted by one of California’s most devastating wildfires while building healthier forests and more resilient watersheds for generations to come.
Whether you're new to restoration or a seasoned volunteer, you’ll be making a real, lasting impact—one tree at a time.
Celebrate Earth Day at Dos Rios
April 18 | 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Join us alongside California State Parks, River Partners, and California State Parks Foundation for a hands-on Earth Day at Dos Rios.
This family-friendly volunteer day brings people together to care for a landscape where rivers, wildlife, and communities meet. Activities may include habitat restoration, brush clearing, planting native species, and tending riverside areas.
Ages 7+ are welcome, and lunch is provided.
This is what Earth Day looks like in action—community showing up for the places we all depend on.
Find Your Place: Tuolumne County Volunteer Fair
April 23 | 4:00 – 6:30 PM | Motherlode Fairgrounds
Looking for ways to get involved locally?
Join over 75 nonprofits, service groups, and agencies at the Tuolumne County Volunteer Fair. Whether you’re passionate about conservation, community care, or education, there’s a place for you.
This free event is a powerful reminder: when people show up, communities thrive.
Stop by our table—we’d love to meet you.
Honoring Mother Earth
April 24–25 | Sonora
We’re honored to support the 4th annual Honoring Mother Earth celebration, a beautiful gathering that centers local Tribal culture, community, and care for our planet.
April 24: Woods Creek Restoration (3–6 PM)
Join us for a volunteer clean-up at Woods Creek Rotary Park, where we’ll continue removing invasive yellow flag iris—a noxious weed that crowds out native plants and harms riparian ecosystems.
After four years of partnership, we’ve already seen meaningful progress. This is your chance to be part of that story.
April 25: Community Celebration (11 AM – 4 PM)
Celebrate with traditional songs, dance, drumming, a Native artist market, and community booths at the Motherlode Fairgrounds.
This event is a powerful reminder that caring for the Earth is deeply rooted in culture, connection, and respect.
Why It Matters
Every action you take this month—every tree planted, every invasive species removed, every hour volunteered—ripples outward.
Healthy forests protect our water.
Restored rivers support wildlife and communities.
And when people come together, real change takes root.
