Wapama Falls at Hetch Hetchy Reservoir

Overview: Starting at the O'Shaughnessy Dam, this 4.6 mile out-and-back trail follows the northern edge of the famous Hetch Hetchy Reservoir in Yosemite National Park. This trail features exceptional views of the reservoir and its glacially-carved granite walls. This trail also offers a close glimpse of Wapama and Tueeulala Falls, which reach their highest flows during peak snowmelt in the spring and early summer. Notably, Hetch Hetchy Reservoir serves as the water supply for the city of San Francisco.

Notes: Visitors will need to secure a day-use pass to enter Yosemite National Park and access Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, which includes a per vehicle fee. To extend this hike, visitors can continue to Rancheria Falls (13 miles out-and-back). The foot bridge located near the base of Wapama Falls is subject to closing during high water flows.

Season: All year (spring and early summer for waterfalls)
