Collecting and installing willow cuttings in our restoration structures at Boney Flat Meadow

  • Boney Flat Meadow Groveland, California United States (map)

Join Yosemite Rivers Alliance this July for willow collection and riparian restoration work days!

Join us for a day of hands-on restoration as we collect cuttings from willows at Boney Flat Meadow in the Tuolumne River watershed.

What to Expect:

  • Guided Collection: Our knowledgeable restoration team will provide an overview of the river restoration project and guide you on how to properly collect cuttings from various trees. You'll learn about the importance of native species in supporting local wildlife and maintaining a healthy environment.

  • Serve the water that supports you : As we gather cuttings from willows and other essential riparian species, you’ll support the health of your local river watershed while building community along the way!

  • Teamwork: Connect with friends and neighbors, who also share a passion for restoration and river repair as we continue to heal the land from the impacts of the Rim Fire.

  • Tools and Supplies: We'll provide all the necessary tools and materials, including collection bags, gloves, and guidance on species identification.

What to Bring:

  • Comfortable outdoor clothing appropriate for the weather.

  • Sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots.

  • Sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.

  • Lunch.

  • Reusable water bottle.

Registration:

Please register in advance to help us plan for supplies and refreshments, and so we can provide specific details such as where to meet up to caravan to the project. Sign up through our volunteer form here and reach out to volunteer@tuolumne.org with any questions.
