Carpenter Road floodplain restoration project
Yosemite Rivers Alliance is requesting bids for a floodplain restoration project on the lower Tuolumne River near Modesto, CA planned for late Summer 2026. The project aims to benefit fall-run Chinook Salmon and O. mykiss by increasing the extent of available floodplain rearing habitat on the Lower Tuolumne River.
The actions of the Project are expected to include, but not be limited to, the construction of low and high floodplain habitat, excavation of a fish passage channel that connects to the mainstem Tuolumne River, installation of an articulated concrete erosion control system for the road crossing at the inlet channel, and native vegetation planting and irrigation.

Updates
On February 18th the Technical Exhibits folder was updated to include all digital (CAD) files. Additionally, the date on the Basis of Design document was corrected from January 16, 2025 to January 16, 2026.
On March 2nd the Technical Specifications document was updated to clarify turbidity sampling, irrigation maintenance, and vegetation survival requirements of the project.
On March 4th, Section 4.4.4 in the Technical Specifications document was updated to clearly indicate the slope of the access road and the direction of drainage.
On March 5th, the bid tour sign in sheet was uploaded to the Bid Package Files folder.
On March 9th, the quantity listed for item 7 (clearing & grubbing) on the Carpenter Road Bid Schedule has been updated to reflect a more accurate acreage that will need to be cleared & grubbed. The quantity was originally 2.5-7.5 acres and is now 18.5 acres. These changes are reflected in the updated RFP as well.
On March 17h, there was a Notice of Intent to Award the contract to Triangle Land Restoration

Please note that the wet winter and related high river flows mean that groundwater levels at the site could be higher during this project than long-term average conditions. See pages 12-13 of the Technical Specifications document for more groundwater information.
The site is easy to access and equipment could be at risk of theft or vandalism - please consider these risks and mitigation measures in your bid.
